What is it? The Strollathon is a fundraising walk to benefit the International Rett Syndrome Foundation (IRSF). The walk is approximately one mile and includes walkers, strollers, and wheelchairs. The event will also include live entertainment, family activities and refreshments.

When is it? Saturday, October 17, 2009. Rain or shine.

Start Time: Registration and entertainment begin at 9:00 a.m. The walk starts promptly at 11:00.

Where is it? Fairfax Corner, a main-street shopping environment located at Monument Drive & Government Center Parkway in Fairfax, Virginia. Click here for directions.

How can you help? There are several ways:

Form a team of walkers to participate in the Strollathon. It’s easy - simply ask a few of your friends, family, or neighbors to walk with you, and in turn ask them to each recruit of few of their friends. Or form a corporate team. Each of your team members will solicit sponsorship from friends, family & colleagues for participating in the walk. Consider this: Form a team of 10 walkers who each obtain $500 in donations and you’ve raised $5,000 for research!

Corporate Partnership: Ask a corporation or local business to become an event Partner by donating an amount from $500 on up. Partners receive promotional benefits depending on the level of their donation. Consider not just where you work, but where your spouse, friends and family work.

Walk: Join a team or individually walk and solicit donations for your participation.

Make a donation: To donate online, simply click on the "Donate Now!" button in the upper left corner of the page. Please select “Fairfax “ from the Program Area drop-down menu and include a name in the Comments section if you’re donating on behalf of a particular girl. Or, mail a check made out to IRSF at 4600 Devitt Drive, Cincinnati, OH 45246.

Where will the money go? All proceeds from the Strollathon will go directly to IRSF, a non-profit 501(c)(3) corporation and the world's leading private funder of Rett Syndrome research. IRSF is dedicated to accelerating treatments and a cure for Rett Syndrome.  The foundation has been awarded a 4-Star rating from Charity Navigator, America's premier evaluator of not-for-profit organizations.
